A club may ask for a rugby padded top, a protective top or body armour. Those names do not tell a supplier which parts of the garment are padded, how the sizes run or what version the club can order. A visual specification makes the first enquiry much more useful.
Here is one example: SHENOCHI S-FB-001, a short-sleeved padded compression shirt. Its recorded features are product facts. They do not establish World Rugby approval or suitability for a particular competition.
Translate the request into a pad map
For this model, the company-confirmed locations are the chest, both ribs, both shoulders and the rear panel. Mark these on the club's brief, and mark any different area separately as a requested change. Photographs show where the components appear, while a sample is needed to judge the position on the intended wearer and kit.
Front view
Back viewThe shirt fabric is listed as 82% polyester and 18% elastane, with honeycomb-shaped EVA pad modules. The listed sizes are M-2XL and the recorded garment weight is 328 g. Neither the fabric blend nor the visible EVA shape is evidence of a quantified impact result.
Separate product fit from competition rules
Check competition documentation separately
Before ordering for play, check the rules that apply to the competition and request the required product documentation. No approval evidence for S-FB-001 is available in this guide. Its appearance and recorded specifications do not establish competition eligibility.
World Rugby body-padding reference. Check the current rule and its applicability before relying on it.
Ask for a sample that answers the brief
| Question | What to request |
|---|---|
| Pad placement | Current front/back views and the exact pad map for the quoted version |
| Fit | Current size chart and a sample in a representative size |
| Club range | Size mix, colour options and any proposed custom changes in writing |
| Order terms | Version-specific MOQ, sample conditions, price and lead time |
| Competition use | Applicable rules and any required approval evidence, reviewed separately |
Black and white are the company's recorded regular-stock colours, although live inventory must be checked. Orange and camouflage require production; their MOQ and lead time are order-specific. Do not use the colour images as evidence of ready stock.

What to include in the club enquiry
Send the intended use, club size mix, expected quantity, destination, preferred colour and required delivery date. Identify any label, packaging or pad-layout changes as requests for evaluation. Ask sales to confirm a sample route and quote against that exact version.
Explore the padded shirt range or send the brief through the wholesale enquiry route.
